Happy World Cocktail Day!!! Celebrating with my Happy World Cocktail Day!!!

Celebrating with my gin babes @sugarspiceblog2 & @run_on_coffee with a delicious @original.cocktails frozen margarita 🍹

I love cheating on gin with some tequila 😋 😉

Here are some cocktail facts:

World Cocktail Day is a global celebration of cocktails; it marks the publication date of the first definition of a cocktail on May 13 in 1806. The New York tabloid The Balance and Columbian Repository defined a cocktail as "a stimulating liquor, composed of spirits of any kind, sugar, water and bitters"

Cocktails are traditionally thought of as an American innovation, but they were actually, at least partly, inspired by British punches — big bowls of spirits mixed with fruit juice, spices, and other flavors, consumed in punch houses in the 18th century.

What was the first ever cocktail? Accounts differ, but most experts agree that the first cocktail was the Sazerac, a blend of whisky, absinthe, bitters and sugar. Created in New Orleans in the mid-1800s, this is one of the first cocktails recognisable by name and remains a favourite to this day.

What's your favourite cocktail ? Don't forget to check out what my two babes are doing for cocktail day

This month for our monthly gin review we decided t This month for our monthly gin review we decided to take another gin break and each chose a liqueur!

If you're an @amarula_official fan you would have noticed two new flavours and I was quick to give them both a try. The Vanilla Spice definitely stole my taste buds 😍 It's same same but deliciously different to the original.

Amarula Vanilla Spice indulgently blends the fragrant plains of Africa, with the tropical allure of the

Madagascan islands. Signature notes include Madagascan vanilla, spicy hints of ginger with Marula fruit over a blanket of velvety cream. Vanilla and ginger extracts have been authentically sourced from Africa.

Made from the delicious Marula fruit of sub-Equatorial Africa, the Marula spirit is distilled and aged in French oak for two years. It is then blended with their velvety cream to create the smooth taste of Amarula - best savoured over ice, preferably with a view.

Don't forget to take a peek at what @sugarspiceblog2 & @run_on_coffee did for their reviews this month.

Can't believe it's the end of February already! 20 Can't believe it's the end of February already! 2022 is running away with us it seems. But with month end myself, @sugarspiceblog2 @run_on_coffee favourite gin day arrives! Our monthly review day.

This month we decided to each do a gin that you can find as minis at either your local Checkers or Spar liquor stores. I went for the @musgravespirits pink gin. Who doesn't love pink right?

The musgrave pink gin is one of my all time favoure pinks as it's super light in flavour and an overall well rounded and smooth on the tongue.

Musgrave Pink is a rose gin made with 12 rare botanicals. Spicy, warm cardamom and juniper share the first taste to the palate and are supported by distinctive notes of African ginger and grains of paradise. Kafir lime leaves complement the subtle peppery notes. The spices marry perfectly to give a smooth and fragrant finish.

Don't forget to go check out my lovely ladies posts too! 💕

For the first gin of 2022 we decided to go to the For the first gin of 2022 we decided to go to the Karoo virtually and visit @grundheim_wines_and_distillers with our taste buds, we each chose one of the more pocket friendly gins, Doring Rosie and Naakte Naartjie, both sell for R190 for 375ml. We'll technically chose for the other ladies because girl likes to give presents.

I somehow ended up with both bottles as I’ve had these before, and you know, magic happens sometimes.

Grundheim is situated in Oudtshoorn, so if you ever venture that way, pop in and say hiii.

But let’s get to the fun part.

🌹 Doring Rosie 🌹
This gin comes with such super cute packaging and doesn’t disappoint on the rose as it tastes so much like Turkish delight. It’s so smooth and very refreshing.

Nose: Fresh Vibrant floral notes of rose petals and hints of turkish delight

Palate:	Turkish delight and rose flavours roll through and also reveals a subtle backdrop of pomegranate and citrus

Botanicals: 16 Botanicals that include Juniper berries, liquorice root, rose petals, pomegranate and citrus peel

🍊 Naakte Naartjie 🍊
Another sweetly packaged gin, I love the seal detail on both bottle’s, just makes it that little extra special. This one is a lovely citrus on the tongue but doesn’t overpower, perfect for those extra hot summer’s days.

Nose: Complex citrus and apple blossom notes dominated by naartjie

Palate: Clean smooth spirits with a complex symphony of flavours

Botanicals: The citrus does not dominate other botanicals as juniper, angelica, liquorice root, natural rose petals are one of key ingredients

This one won a Michealangelo gold in 2019!

Both these gins get double thumbs up from me, highly recommended.

Go check out what @sugarspiceblog2 and @run_on_coffee think about these.

Don’t think of her as gone away –
her journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets –
this earth is only one.

Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.

Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.

And think of her as living
In the hearts of those she touched
For nothing loved is ever lost –
And she was loved so much.

Who else is absolutely crazy about potatoes? I lov Who else is absolutely crazy about potatoes? I love them baked, fried, mashed, in stuff, on top of stuff, just all the ways you can think of. If I were to be stuck on a remote island and I can choose 1 food item it would definitely be potatoes!

With my love of potatoes and being part of the @potatoes_za tribe I'm passing the potato and donating potatoes to those less fortunate in my community.

Potatoes are a fantastic staple full of antioxidants, a source of fibre and full of vitamins, not to mention all the uses for them.

I challenge @sugarspiceblog2 @run_on_coffee @tamarindnthyme & @charmainedodgen to pass the potato to someone in need!

How gorgeous is this hydrangea in our garden? Sinc How gorgeous is this hydrangea in our garden? Since I was a little girl I associate them with Christmas. My grandmother always had massive bushes of them this time of the year. When we moved into the farm house it was the first plant I bought because I just need to see them blooming, like my grandmotheris watching over us. This is the pinkest one I've ever seen and it's the first year that it's not in a pot.

What is your favourite thing around the festive season?
