{Review} Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

Urban Decay Primer Potion Feautured

Good day all my lovelies. I’m super excited to finally share my review on the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. Before Urban Decay hit the South African shores I badly wanted to try this. I saw so many rave reviews all over the internet and the promise of hours of eyeshadow staying power just made me melt.

I’ve had this primer for a while and with my trip to the Netherlands I’ve really gotten to test it through sunshine, rain and snow! But before I get into the review part let’s see what Urban Decay has to say.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

The number-one primer for indestructible, all-day eyeshadow, their legendary Eyeshadow Primer Potion delivers everything you could possibly want in an eye primer. No creasing, more vibrant color and smoother application.

The Primer Potion is available in South Africa in four different formulas:

  • Original – Blends beautifully on all skin tones and dries invisibly.
  • Eden – Offers full coverage while hiding ALL redness (and gives you a gorgeously subtle look when worn alone)
  • Minor Sin – A subtle pale nude shimmer, is a sheerer version of Sin that was reworked based on customer feedback.
  • Anti-Aging – Measurably improves the signs of aging over time. High-tech ingredients fight wrinkles and improve tone and texture.

My Findings

I have the Primer Potion in the finish “Eden” and I fear for the day when my tube will be empty!

I really like the ombre design on the tube. The size is a perfect fit for my hand and I really like the grip on the cap. I find it really easy to open and the applicator delivers just the right amount of product for both eyelids.

The formula is just the right consistency, glides onto my lids and is easy to blend. It has a short drying time where after the eyeshadow smoothly and easily applies. Once it’s dry you can swipe and wipe over the primer and you will notice that it doesn’t budge! The Eden primer also lets your eyeshadows appear more vibrant.

As I mentioned at the start of the post I was able to test the primer in all sorts of weather conditions. I am happy to report that the primer holds onto your eyeshadow for dear life. I’ve used it on hot days, rainy days and even snow days. The longest I’ve gone between putting on makeup and taking it off was about 11 hours and my eyeshadow still looked gorgeous. I’ve tested the same eyeshadows without the primer and by midday it was a literal hot brown mess.

Final Say

If you are serious about makeup and would love your hard work to slay all day I highly recommend the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. Urban Decay is also proudly vegan and cruelty free. I would like to try out minor sin next as I have this thing for shimmer. The primer potions are available at stand alone Urban Decay stores, Foschini’s Eastgate and Foschini For Beauty online. The retail for R270 – R320

Don’t worry I got my first palette less than a year ago! When I was done with the post the shadow without the primer was completely gone and the other 2 swatches just still sat there lol

I have been so curious as to whether or not this primer lives up to the hype around it. It is a tad pricey but seems to be worth it.

I’ve actually never used a separate primer for my eyeshadow. This one sounds great and I’m going to definitely look for it next time I go cosmetic shopping!
